Description

An embroidered cloth patch previously worn by Colonel Claude. S. Buchanan, previously attached to his uniform. The patch resembles a blue circle with a white star featuring a smaller red circle in the center, two gold wings atop the star, c. 1941. This patch was the insignia of the United States Army Air Forces, worn by all personnel despite where they were stationed. The insignia is also known to be the Hap Arnold emblem, named after General Arnold, who commanded the Army Air Forces in World War II.
