Front View of An Unidentified Biplane Bomber

Format

Photographic print

Date

c. summer of 1919

Location

McCook Field, Dayton, Ohio, USA.

Description

A photographic print of an unidentified biplane bomber on McCook Field, circa 1919. Biplane bombers of the First World War were built to withstand increasingly heavier loads of explosives while still being able to strategically target areas deep within enemy lines. The foremost model is possibly a prototype based on the Martin MB-1 or the Caproni CA-36, based on its sheer size and the unique shape of its nose, or radome.
