Angled View of a Verville VCP-1 Biplane
Format
Photographic print
Date
c. 06-11-1920
Location
McCook Field, Dayton, Ohio, USA.
Description
A photographic print of a Verville VCP-1 biplane, built by the United States Army Air Service’s Engineering Division. This aircraft was a single-seat fighter, also known as a "pursuit" aircraft to the United States Army. The VCP-1 was notably powered by a Wright-built 300 hp (220 kW) Hispano-Suiza 8 V-8 engine. Only two VCP-1 biplanes were built, only one making it to the skies on June 11, 1920. Ultimately, the VCP-1 was modified to become a racing aircraft, and this model never saw combat it was intended for.
